I love the “Mermando and his family check up on the Stans” headcanon for a lot of reasons, but especially because it implies that Mabel got over him romantically but they’re still friends and send each other letters and conspire to make sure her relatives get sleep. She probably sends him, like, waterproof glitter hairties and stuff.

What if the arranged political marriage between him and the manatee queen ended up working out well, despite the implied shaky start? Reminder that Mabel canonically finds the

manatee queen “so beautiful” and probably loves sending her jewelry she made and getting Mermando to translate “girl talk” between them. Mabel currently has a lexicon of beauty tips in her brain that are really only useful if you spend all your time underwater.
